    Ponisseril Somasundaran (born 28 June 1939)[1] is an American mineral engineer of Indian origin and a LaVon Duddleson Krumb Professor of Mineral Engineering at Columbia University, New York.[2][3]

    In 2010 the Government of India honoured him with the award of Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions to the fields of science and technology.[4]
