Born on June 18, 1947 in Fajardo situated in Puerto Rico, Ivonne Coll Mendoza spent most of her childhood days in Fajardo. There is no information about her parents or siblings. She did her schooling from the Nuestra Senora del Pilar School and went on to attend the University of Puerto Rico.

She graduated with a degree in Social Sciences from the university. She started as a model and participated in the Muss Puerto Rico in the year 1966 and even won the pageant. This gave her the chance to represent Puerto Rico in the Miss Universe pageant in 1967.
She was also the member and star of the USO Tour Puerto Rico Sings in the year 1972.
She made her acting debut in the year 1971 when she spotted by the owner of Channel 11 and decided to launch Coll’s own show named A girl named Ivonne Coll.

After the show ended, Coll shifted to New York in the year 1979 and worked in many Broadway plays. After some years, she returned to Puerto Rico. She is popular for her recurring role of Aray
