Gholamreza Mesri is a Professor Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

He received Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1965, 1966, and 1969, respectively; joined the faculty as an assistant professor in 1969; and became full professor in 1978.

Professor Mesri has been teaching advanced undergraduate and graduate level courses in Soil Mechanics and Soil Behavior. Professor Mesri’s current fields of active research include engineering properties, construction problems, and ground modification technology in soft
